The Defensive Driving Course is a 6-hour online Driver Improvement Program approved by the Province of Nova Scotia. How to Remove the N From Your Nova Scotia Licence

This provincially approved Defensive Driving Course can satisfy the course requirement for progressing from Class 5N, once the other licensing conditions are met. Removing the N is followed by the two-year Restricted Individual stage; it does not immediately end all GDL restrictions. See the Registry’s Restricted Individual guidance.

Step 1
Meet the minimum GDL time requirement. Nova Scotia requires that you hold your Class 5N licence for at least 24 months before you can progress.
Step 2
Complete the Artin Driving School Defensive Driving Course. Our online program is provincially approved and can meet the course requirement for progressing from Class 5N. Your certificate of completion is issued within 1 business day of passing the final exam, delivered by email as a downloadable PDF.
Step 3
Submit your completion certificate to Access Nova Scotia. Present or mail your certificate to the Registry of Motor Vehicles so it can be recorded. Confirm the submission details with Access Nova Scotia.
